Antler Kitchen & Bar totally blew me away for my birthday dinner. We got the chef’s table with the tasting menu, and from start to finish, everything was beautifully made and super flavorful. Chef Alex and his crew made the night feel really special. He personally served us all evening, explained each dish with so much passion, and you could tell how much thought went into every little thing. The whole team was friendly, professional, and super attentive without ever being in the way. The food really highlighted tasty Canadian ingredients and wild-inspired dishes in such a fancy, creative way, and the timing of the tasting menu was spot on. The cocktails were amazing too – balanced, creative, and a perfect match for the food. The cozy, rustic vibe, open kitchen, and chill atmosphere made it a perfect spot for a special occasion, but it still felt comfy and down-to-earth. Honestly, it was one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in Toronto, and I’m so thankful to Chef Alex and the team for making my birthday so memorable. I’d totally recommend Antler to anyone looking for a unique and unforgettable night out.
We went here for the first time to celebrate my husband’s birthday & we opted for the Chef’s Table. We loved every minute of the experience and it was really unique having the chef’s set the tasting menu and not knowing what was next - added to the suspense and excitement of the evening! Every dish was so thoughtfully curated and explained in detail, that we struggled to pick a favourite. All the chef’s and staff were very friendly and welcoming. We’ve already recommended this place to friends and family and we will definitely be back!
Finally got a chance to dine at Antler with their Chef's Table Tasting Menu. Came with high expectations and what we got exceeded it. Each of their dishes were spot on, but the highlights for us were the Venison Tartare topped with an awesome fried shiitake, their smoked boar belly and the bison steak with a duck fat potato rosti. Value for the price, we would happily come back for it again.
We love Antler so much! Having been loyal customers for a long time, when we accepted a job in Australia, leaving Antler was on the “con” list…so we were very happy to squeeze in a dinner on our first visit back to Canada last month. As always the meal, service and atmosphere were really special. Although restaurants in Melbourne are great, there is only one Antler. Don’t miss it.
Came here for Valentine’s Day dinner. The menu was for $129 per person. The food was delicious. However, the portion was so small! We were probably 30% full after the dinner and we had to get pizza after lol I hope they can readjust the portion after. The pictures I attached were all we had for two people plus two oysters. We ended paying $350 for this.
We visited Antler for the first time. The ambience is great and the service was excellent. The staff were attentive, knowledgeable, and guided us well through the menu, which we appreciated as first time diners. Unfortunately, this is where the positives ended. We shared the cheese and charcuterie board. While there was a good selection of meats and pâté, the cheese offering was very limited. Only two very small pieces of cheese, each around half an inch. The focaccia portion was reasonable, but it arrived cold and without butter. For mains, I ordered the bison ribeye and my wife had the Arctic char. The bison was cooked medium rare and served with garlic butter and a duck croquette. Without the garlic butter, the bison itself was not very appetising and quite fatty, with the butter doing most of the work for flavour. The Arctic char was lukewarm at best and also lacked flavour. Overall, the food felt unseasoned, which was strange as we both felt extremely thirsty afterward, almost as if salt had been used inconsistently. We ended up drinking Gatorade for the rest of the evening. The highlight of the meal was dessert. The dark chocolate torte with oak ice cream was excellent. Given the strong reviews and our regular dining at good restaurants, we went in with high expectations that were not met. Considering the overall cost, the experience did not feel good value and we are unlikely to recommend or return.
We had a lovely evening celebrating our 15th anniversary! Food was top quality, and very obviously prepared with care. Flavour combinations were unique but still showcased the high quality proteins. Service was casual, but very friendly and attentive. Highly recommend the boar belly main, and charcuterie platter - they were incredible!
Came here for a culinary experience, and we definitely received it! We came for the chefs tasting and were given 7 unique courses that brought me out of my comfort zone. The chef was very friendly and fun to talk to when exploring the dishes he created. The unique ingredients and plating added to it all. I’d highly recommend to come at least once and try it! They have a very wide range of food from basic to extravagant wild meats. I love that this is a seasonal place and it changes with what ingredients are available! My favourite was the sticky toffee pudding - but I’m a dessert person! The bison was also a close favourite
When my coworkers said they wanted "Canadian food," Antler kept showing as a top choice... and it delivered! This cozy spot leans hard into game meats, with elk, venison, boar, and buffalo all making appearances across the menu. If that sounds intense, don't worry, the dishes are rustic in spirit but executed with care. Quality ingredients, clever pairings and confident cooking all around. I started with the maple-glazed boar belly, which hit the sweet spot (literally and figuratively). Crispy on the outside, tender inside, and just the right amount of maple. But the real standout was dessert: the spruce strawberry shortcake. Bright, earthy, creamy, and crumbly all at once -- easily one of the most memorable dishes of the night. Service was warm and attentive. Our server kept things moving without rushing us, and the water glasses were always full. The dining room has a moody, industrial-rustic vibe that complements the wild game focus. If you're looking for a spot that feels distinctly Canadian without being gimmicky, Antler is a strong (and delicious) contender.
Food was amazing, servers were attentive but not overbearing. Slightly small venue but given its location I'm not super surprised.
I’ve always wanted to try out this restaurant, since I wanted to experience game meat cuisine. This restaurant is also part of the Michelin Guide, and it was on the news a while ago for a vegan protest where the owner cuts animal leg in front of vegans. The dishes were innovative and interesting with well thought out with ingredients to hide the gaminess of the meat. This isn’t like anything I experienced before. Would I prefer this over just regular pork, beef and chicken? No. However, my dining adventures wouldn’t be complete without this experience, and I would still recommend this place to adventurous diners. “Chef Michael Hunter’s Antler Kitchen & Bar is a showcase for wild Canadiana. Its walls are decorated with mounted deer antlers and photographs of maple trees tapped with syrup and morels ripe for plucking.” “Antler on Dundas West is a celebration of regional ingredients. [The restaurant’s] aim is to define Canadian cuisine highlighting local seasonal and wild foods.”
Perfect texture on squid Yakitori, and we loved how the Soy didn't consume it. Carpaccio came out in a glass cover - the smokiness was preserved beautifully, and it provided a fun photo opportunity! Foie-Gras... immaculate. Best thing we've ever had possibly hahaha. My jaw dropped when I tasted the pheasant/rabbit pie. Shoutout duck fat crust!! The Watercress was so well-sourced that it appeared as if the stems were painted on in a brighter hue. Quail had a lovely balance of sweet and tender to gamey, on the most delicate bed of lentils and celery root purée. I did not know lentils could be that good. Thanks Antler
Visited for the first time last weekend. Every course was delicious, with mushrooms being the crown jewel for each of them. The grilled squid was fantastic, grilled, crispy and smoky while also super perfectly tenderized. The restaurant ambiance is much nicer than it looks on Google Maps.
The best game we have had. We ordered drinks, 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, espresso and 1 dessert. The Clear as Day gin cocktail was excellent, made with Antler House gin. The BC Salmon Crudo and the Roasted Hen of the Woods salad were refreshing and delicious. The Bison Ribeye and Venison Rack were cooked to perfection. Finally the Sticky Toffee Pudding was decadent but not too sweet.
We had a fantastic experience at Antler this past Saturday while celebrating a milestone birthday. From the start, the staff was incredibly helpful in coordinating all the logistics, making the planning process smooth and stress-free. The food was absolutely phenomenal—creative, delicious, and beautifully presented. Service was fast, attentive, and friendly, helping to make the evening feel extra special. Our only wish is that our two tables could have been closer together, or that we’d had a better understanding of just how far apart they would be, as it did leave the group feeling a bit separated. That said, we couldn’t be happier with our choice to celebrate at Antler and can’t wait to come back again.
A hidden Gem in Toronto. The flavors are very well balanced, the service is outstanding, the meat was cooked to perfection, the serving size was just perfect. I recommend having the family-style food menu for 2 or more people (everything you want to eat is here, minus the burger). Went here for my birthday and it did not disappoint. This place should be part of the Michelin Star guide.
Amazing restaurant with great service, the chef puts his soul in his food, really great wine pairing and choice of cocktails. 100000% recommend
An unforgettable birthday dinner for my husband. The 7-course chef’s menu was outstanding — creative, delicious, and beautifully executed. The chef was genuinely warm and attentive, and the staff made us feel so well cared for. Highly recommend for a special night out.
